I am starting to think there is no way to come back from this.

As in, post-Trump. After this piece of garbage is out of office. How do we reckon with all of this, with the fact that millions of people supported and continue to support this? This is not merely a difference of opinion. This is a grave attack on our democracy. A breach of loyalty to our country that is unforgivable. Is there any possible way to continue pretending that we are all one nation?

How can we 'unify' with the people who supported this lowlife? Do we even want to?

I don't...

1. at a bare minimum, foxnews must be widely regarded as a fringe propaganda network.

as long as it is accepted as normal, if conservative, we will remain in deep peril.

starting with foxnews. Question is, what is the likelihood of that happening? In a sense, our laws are being used against us to brainwash a large segment of the populace and destroy us from within.

That would help.

Regulations to require carriers (cable, satellite, etc.) To carry multiple news networks in their basic package would be good.

They need to change first, but the only way they will is if they become educated and tune out right-wing propaganda. But they won't do that either... Sooooo.....

It took decades, but they rebuilt and became Europe's leading economy. There's hope (but only once Twittler is long gone).

And then they were occupied for years and separated down the middle for decades more.

Let's hope it doesn't get that far here.

The rebuilding will begin immediately.
All executive orders reversed.
Obama directives reinstalled.
Of course we need the offices to do this.

The GOP has fixed itself into power and will only get worse.

The entire system is constipated.

We have to find a way to get people out to vote like never before. There's more of us than them.

It will take years to undo the damage caused by the reps and cheeto.

If there are higher intelligence forms of life keeping an eye on us - now's the f-ing time to intervene!

We just weren't as aware of them. They didn't get the airplay they are getting now. But, in a little while, they will no longer be the new thing and the media will be on to the next new thing. Wouldn't it be great if it was the uprising of nice people? Hours and hours of news coverage of people doing wonderful things. We really need to buy some media outlets.

The Conservatives that turned their back on country and swallowed this aberration as "the price of power" are just as craven and guilty as the redneck racists that truly do love this shtick. The divide between progressive agendas and conservative ones is a chasm and its growing wider and deeper by the hour.

There is no compromise with someone who believes healthcare is a privilege of circumstance and then attributes disease and medical misfortune to character flaws or "laziness". THAT is a fundamentally disturbed mind and one that cannot be reasoned with or compromised with because there is no other acceptable outcome to them.

There is no compromise with "I got mine, screw everyone else". To be a nation, a single state, there is a fundamental need to have a core identity that EVERYONE rallies around. It used to be the flag and the presidency for a very long time. Its gone now and its replaced with "Team Red" and "Team Blue" and that's unsustainable long term...

There is no compromise with religious zealots who demand their "freedom" in the name of suppressing others. There is no middle ground position with "my description of god hates fags, so you go die fag". It is madness to think otherwise...they must be TOLD and FORCED to NOT PERSECUTE OTHERS...think about that for a second, their default position is NOT acceptance or an attempt to empathize and understand...it is to crush, kill, eliminate and destroy the unbelievers. They are full of shit and there is no place for that kind of absolutism as a starting point to compromise.

This time, we should collect all the guns, tanks, planes and weapons from the states that wish to leave, cut all economic ties and force them to negotiate trade deals with the states that remain and then sit back and watch the New Confederacy implode like Haiti. We should also force UN resolutions to ignore them as they die by the millions of disease, starvation and extreme poverty. It may even make for good TV to send camera crews to film them hunting down their 'leaders' like some kind of "The Running Man" come to life...

And I think it will be sooner rather than later.
The Special Counsel will find some crime, however petty, and impeachment proceedings will commence. Hopefully a few repukes will see the light and join us, if not we will sweep into power with the 2018 elections.
We will win both the house and the senate.
Nancy Pelosi will be the speaker, tRump and pence will both be impeached, convicted, and removed from office as the first order of business in the new congress.
Pelosi will be the new President. Hillary will be appointed VP and then assume her rightful place as CIC as Pelosi in a grand gesture of unity and healing steps aside.
Maxine Waters and John Lewis jointly chair a newly created Bureau of Reconciliation to right past wrongs starting with a clawback of ill gained profits from right wingers funding programs such as race reparations and forgiving student loan debt.
We will then reimpose the fairness doctrine and remove from society race baiters and the hate mongers such as Limbaugh and Fox News.
We will take our country back and those that stand in our way will suffer the same fate as the nazis.

14. I used to think the divide in this country
Thu Jun 29, 2017, 12:58 PM
Jun 2017

was—beyond liberal versus conservative—roughly one of urban versus rural.

Now I see, comparing the Obama years to the Age of Trump, that the divide is really between: distinguished, thoughtful, and morally upstanding on the one hand, versus corrupt, ignorant, and vulgar on the other. That corrupt, ignorant, and vulgar can win such a large share of the populace (or really, any share at all) still bewilders and upsets me. I had no idea that these were appealing qualities, but I think that in the age of reality tv and the wild west of social media, vulgar is winning the race. Pray for our country.
