The Democrats dilemma

On the one hand, it would be nice to work with the Republicans to fix the ACA that, let's admit, needs fixing

But this will mean that the Republicans will take all the credit for that and we can forget taking back the House and the Senate.

On the other hand, we can refuse to co-operate and let the Republicans pay in 2018, the way we did in 1994 and in 2010.

As much as we'd like to believe this, I am not sure. In both 1994 and in 2010, when the House changed majority, it was after a Democratic attempts at offering comprehensive health care. It was easy for the Republicans to use their usual black and white speeches that appeal to most voters.

Thus, I am not so sure that all the deplorables and others who will suffer as a result of the Republicans action would actually blame the Democrats. As we've already seen, individuals who admit they will lose, even die, if ACA is repealed, yet still support Trump.

Perhaps we should not work with them. Not the turtle would agree, anyway. We will lose either way.
