Bar under fire for calling customers racist names, decorating beers in a swastika
Nahila Bonfiglio — June 28 at 10:31AM | Last updated June 29 at 7:13AM

Circus-themed bar Unbarlievable in Austin, Texas, is in hot water after racist and misogynist social media posts surfaced online.

It all started with a screenshot of a now-deleted post on Google reviews in which the owner, Brandon Cash, insults a patron for being born, calls the woman he was with a prostitute, and wrote, “since you had a towel on your head, I thought you were the new bus boy [sic].”

Cash’s response apparently wasn’t an irregular occurrence, either. When the Austin Chronicle requested links to other occurrences of social media missteps by the bar or Cash, the response was immediate and dramatic.

A review from March shows patron Rebecca Quintrell detailing her experience in which a server placed beers in a swastika pattern.

Depending on where you live, it could be a felony. Also, who the heck is going to want to go back there if he's messing with peoples' food and drinks? Gross!

This is not a very smart person. He might have opened himself up to a lawsuit and persecution. Good going dumbass!

It seems like people have a problem going to a racist bar.

/excerpt

UPDATE 7:30 P.M.: Unbarlievable owner Brandon Cash has apologized in a statement, pledging “to work diligently to earn back the trust of my customers, my employees and this community.”

“It is with profound humility that I issue this heartfelt apology,” he said in the statement. “To those who I have hurt and offended, I am deeply sorry. My words and actions were wrong, inappropriate and inexcusable. They certainly don’t exemplify the values of a community that I love and care deeply about and my insensitive actions do not represent the views of my loyal and dedicated employees."

The longtime Austinite added that he has “worked hard to create hospitality experiences that reflect our unique, fun-loving Austin culture and attract patrons and guests who appreciate it. Unfortunately, my own intolerable actions have contributed to a negative environment that has detracted from that culture and vision.”

UPDATE 6:45 p.m: The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission is investigating Unbarlievable following an unspecified incident involving “imagery” and “language,” according to KVUE. TABC officials received an email on June 18 about a situation that happened in March.

Cash had a stake in another Austin bar, but after the scandal he was bought out by the other owners who didn't want their bar to sink with his fat

The Rainey Street area is the new hot spot area in Austin since it is near Lady Bird Lake. The parking is atrocious is horrible since it is a gentrified neighborhood. I suspect that the prices are also exorbitant which means its appeal is probably limited to rich frat boys.

Unusual arrests made during Steamboat MusicFest

Steamboat Springs — Everything might be bigger in Texas, except for one Texas man's choice of undergarments while running through the hallways of The Steamboat Grand hotel.

Brandon J. Cash, 33, of Austin, was arrested after he ran around the hotel early Monday morning in a bikini and exposed himself, police said.

According to an arrest affidavit filed in Routt County Court, Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. security guards told police that Cash was exposing himself and he had what appeared to be baby powder on his face.

Police located Cash in a hotel room. He denied running around the hotel in a bikini and told police he had been sleeping.

I'm done with these intentionally illiterate Deplorable morAns doing whatever the fuck they want, and then when they get rightly called out for it by the rest of civilization think they can just make it better with an oh shit, I didn't realize that my OBVIOUSLY OFFENSIVE words and behavior would be construed as such, and now that my money is on the line I guess I'll go ahead and offer an apology (IN CASE you were offended).

This worthless president will get himself impeached, and they will apologize for being Oh So Wrong....but then will blame the media and democrats for not telling them what their Dear Leader really was, and go vote for Ted Cruz because he's the really REAL conservative Dear Leader that 'murica needs.

Fuck their apology. They don't deserve to have us listen anymore.

He didn't say "if you were offended," which is a phrase that makes me contemplate bloody murder. He apologized for being offensive. A simple thing, but really all I care about in an apology.

I also appreciate the part where he tried to shield his employees. People in those jobs often don't have a lot of other options for employment.

Unless he gets a job doing apology outreach for the SPLC guy, though, this guy and his apology can go fuck themselves.

The bar is located in the newest hot spot between the lake and 6th street. It's a gentrified, cosmopolitan neighborhood. Extremely high property values more than likely mean that the prices are also expensive. His comments probably eliminated about 90% of his clientele. One of the ladies that I know that occasionally entertains clients in the Rainey Street district will definitely avoid that bar in the future.

Lots of people have harsh racial views and are negative toward women, but keep that under wraps. They go to this bar, there is no doubt. My guess is he change the name or try to get a front partner. But people will check ownership. He should sell now and leave for some racist loving red area while he can still get something for the bar.

According to what I read, the SERVER placed a large order of beer glasses on a table and arranged them in the shape of a swastika.

Not to be too nitpicky, but your subject line is a little misleading.

Still, I wouldn't go near this place and hopefully the douchebag owner will be cleaning dumpsters before long.
