and just by chance, at the next table was a woman who had just 'retired' from the Democratic Committee.. county, or city, not sure...

We chatted a bit, she said they had a good mayor. etc etc...
She also said it is impossible for Alabama to elect a Democratic senator..

That's all I know..

Oh, I DID catch Microwave Dave and the Nukes ! WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Martha Coakley-D was a bad candidate and MA has not elected a Republican US Senator since 1978 (Ed Brooke-R)
In AL-2017, the Republican candidates Strange,Moore, and Brooks are not that popular, they can make a gaffe.

Are there any popular Democrats in Alabama? THey haven't had a Democratic Senator since Shelby switched parties in 1994. They had Howell Heflin before that, but he was fairly conservative.

for years prior to Brown but the state has elected republican to statewide office quite often in recent years. Since 1991 the state has elected FIVE republican governors and only one Democrat.

1991-1997 Weld was a popular liberal Republican who won re-election in 1994 by a landslide margin-he resigned in 1997 to become US Ambassador to New Mexico.
1997-2001 Cellucci narrow won re-election in 1998- he resigned in 2001 to become US Ambassador to Canada.
2001-2003 Swift decided against running in 2002, was succeeded by Romney.(2003-2007)
Baker won in 2014 against Coakley.
The Democratic Governors of AL since 1991 were Folsom and Siegelman.

Once they understand that their senator will take away their health care they will awake. And a substantial GOTV.

Even still, because I support him, I will send him $$$. He's the type of candidate Democrats need to run in deeply conservative states like Alabama. I hold out hope that one day, it will be possible to elect great Democrats such as Jason in states like Alabama.
