One Repub talking point about 'Obamacare'..is that Health Care should be available 'across State lines'..

It sounds sensible.. And few seem to refute that talking point..

But isn't the reality that Health Care providers would game the system like Credit Card companies do..that credit card companies establish themselves in the few States that allow huge interest rates? And establish offices there so they can charge the exorbitant rates?

So if the Repub plan access across States was enacted that Health Care providers would establish offices in States with purposefully lax corporate friendly Health Care provider laws? And the patient would again suffer?

Just wanted to confirm if my thinking is right..or is there another reason for the across State lines talking point?

So how would this work? I live in NJ where you cannot be denied insurance. Paying for it is another matter. Republicans pass a law allowing me to buy insurance from any company that wants to sell it to me. Sounds great but those companies don't even want to sell insurance to all the people in their own state. (It are mostly the northeast states that have regulations against denying coverage.)

The law passes. I want to buy insurance from a company in Illinois. Illinois allows insurers to make individual applicants go through underwriting so they can deny coverage. Now, with this new law, they can deny coverage to people everywhere, not just in Illinois.

Now if individuals could not be turned down based upon medical history then fine, even please, let me buy insurance from any company anywhere.

Oh yes...a nasty factoid. A preexisiting condition does not mean that you have a condition. It means that once upon a time you sought medical care for xyz. You could be good as new now, but you can be tagged as uninsurable.

Ain't it great???

"The Kaiser analysis, based on preliminary data from the insurance companies themselves, estimates total rebates to be around $1.3 billion. A separate survey by Goldman Sachs, reported by Bloomberg News, pegged the total at $1.2 billion.

According to Kaiser, 3.4 million people in the individual market are expected to get a rebate check, which will average $127 each. That's about 31 percent of all people who purchase their own policies. "

Most of the t-baqggers probably have it bought for them thru work, or most likely are on Medicare.
