Not to bail Manafort out, but he was likely getting lots of email and just scanned it. BUT, if I was going to go to a meeting with someone, you better damned bet that I would ask in detail about what the meeting agenda was. So Manafort's excuse does not pan out, eventhough the email reading part makes sense.
