...those who are lying, and have lied, on their security clearance application form?
Why can't the Justice department at least pull their security clearances over this if not jail?

(888 posts)Next time, Democrats hold the speakership.
1.) Presidents release tax returns for decade.
2.) Department of Justice, FBI, divorced from political, maybe 10 year terms, like FBI.
3.) Removal only for cause, which would be reviewable by Congress. Only reviewable.
4.) Congressional ethics committee, chaired by opposite party to President outside of Congress.
5.) Strengthening the emoluments rule, with it, and the ethics committee outside political control.
6.) Take the money out of politics, especially producing law

7.) Candidates for President are required to have previously held an elected government position of some type for at least two years. No "learning on the job."
8.) Persons directly related to the elected President by blood or marriage may not be appointed by the President to any office or position in the administration. Relatives may be elected by standard vote to any office on their own merits, but cannot be appointed to serve in any official or advisory role, paid or not. First Spouses may champion platforms and causes as they normally do in a separate capacity from the administration.

(888 posts)The less one is very important, look out. Jared Kushner is the overlord Secretary of State, Secretary of defense, Chief of Staff, is very much like a mini president right below Don the Con.
Untenable for any Cabinet member worth his salt

(28,394 posts)If Sessions has really recused himself, the next in command could probably do it.
Also... this is speculation, but Jared and Ivanka have an agreement with trump that they will have the option to leave DC every 6 months. Since that date is coming up, maybe Jared will leave on his own. Could happen. I think he would still be subject to prosecution, of course.

(8,541 posts)That way any questions can be asked and answered regarding anything classified.
Whether or not the security clearances will be pulled is another story.
Now in most cases while the clearance would remain active the person access to classified materials would be limited or stopped.
Just because you have an active cleanrace doesn't give you blankets access to everything. You can have it and still not be allowed access to anything just, as said, so you can be questioned on classified matters.

(1,521 posts)As long as Jeff Sessions leads the DOJ I think these sort of things will either not happen at all or happen verrrrrrrry slowly.
Jeff Sessions is, and always has been, utterly corrupt.
