Governors skeptical after 'pretty atrocious' session with top Trump health officials

Providence, Rhode Island (CNN)Governors confronted President Donald Trump's top health officials over the cost of the Republican health care push to their states in a tense, closed-door session here Saturday.

Vice President Mike Pence, Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Seema Verma made a frantic bid at the National Governors Association meeting Friday and Saturday to win over -- or at least silence -- skeptical GOP governors.

But their efforts left major questions unanswered, Republican and Democratic governors said.

And Pence's speech Friday resulted in the vice president openly feuding with Ohio Gov. John Kasich, a Republican who didn't attend the governors' meeting.

get away with telling the people? These Governors know the crap that Pence, Price and McConnell tell the people and aren't stupid. They know first hand how this health care bill will hurt their states and don't buy their lies.

you could have 100% democratic turnout and the republicans would still win the district.

Anyway, even if a particular state won't elect an opposition party candidate as gov, the sitting gov can still be challenged in a primary.

Hardly surprising that these knuckleheads don't have anything to say. "Die quickly" hardly sounds like a health care plan.

Dem. Governor Terry McAuliffe of VA is president of Governors' Association.
One could stay away from any given speech or discussion is one wanted.

I was just interested to know if Kasich had issued an official reason for not attending. It could have been a simple or personal or reason, or because Ohio Legislature was winding up its deliberations and Kasich needed to be available to veto (or not) certain measures.

Our credit sucks.

Not only don't we have enough money to fund our teachers' pensions, but there isn't enough money to REPLACE the money TAKEN OUT of the teachers' pension fund.

NJ is so desperate for funds that it KEPT THE FEDERAL FUNDS given to build the Gateway Tunnel AFTER Gov. Christie CANCELED the project. The Federal funds were applied to strictly NJ transportation projects.

Even if we raise the taxes for the wealthy in NJ (provided they don't move out of state), there won't be enough money to fund healthcare if the ACA is repealed and/or replaced.
