Washington (CNN)The collapse of the Republican bid to repeal and replace Obamacare Monday, alongside chaos brewed by the Russia scandal, has revealed a stunted presidency and a White House struggling to master the levers of power.
It also leaves President Donald Trump without a significant legislative triumph to show for his first six months in office.
"He was playing with a firetruck and trying on a cowboy hat as the bill was collapsing and he had no clue," a top Republican told CNN's Jeff Zeleny on Tuesday, mocking the "Made In America" week at the White House.
"We're not going to own it. I'm not going to own it. I can tell you the Republicans are not going to own it. We'll let Obamacare fail and then the Democrats are going to come to us," Trump told reporters at the White House.

(9,291 posts)Trump isn't a republican, he's just a Trump. Couldn't care less, you look like fools thinking he has any political capital to move anything. You allowed him to hijack your party, idiots.
Treason of the highest order, and those asshats couldn't care less.

(82,849 posts)What's the point of granting this person anonymity? It's not like the "top Republican" is betraying a state secret by recounting President Trump's hi-jinks that he's engaging in rather than governance. Why not put this "top Republican" on the record, so the public can evaluate just how high up Republican disgust with Trump goes? Because right now anyone who might be considered a "top Republican" is on the record as marching lock-step with this misadministration.

(15,805 posts)Letting Obamacare fail will require Republicans to vote to sabotage it, and that will hurt millions of Americans who have any kind of insurance. Democrats will never enable Trumps vindictive attempts to kill off the ACA. Trump already owns this mess and the Republicans know they have painted themselves into a corner.

(4,097 posts)Donald Trump is a narcissistic, misogynistic, sociopathic con man. Donald Trump only gives a damn about Donald Trump. He has no agenda but himself. He couldn't give a rat's behind about anyone in this country but himself. But the Republicans and the MAGA crowd drank the cool aid. They will get what they deserve, NOTHING!

(90,683 posts)Interesting line about "struggling to master the levers of power," too.
I remember that one of the knocks on Hillary was how dangerous she would be "because she knows where the levers of power are." Like it was a bad thing instead of a measure of competence and experience in governance. *holes. Now look what we have.
