Trying to make the case to allow him to take over (privatize) the war in Afghanistan.
NPR even giving him airtime sucks.

He will probably get his wish.

(1,186 posts)That's why I no longer listen to or support them. It's a shame though. It used to be excellent reporting and programming.

(6,916 posts)In 2012 NPR's news shows were broadcasting Romney's lies unchecked.
Background: Obama is center-right by European standards. As you can see by his use of drones and his republican-origin, 'free-market' health care plan. Not saying I agree or disagree with with those policies, but they illustrate Obama is fairly centrist and leans right on many issues.
Romney said on NPR, unchecked, and I paraphrase:
"Obama socialist Obama socialist Obama socialist Obama socialist Obama socialist Obama socialist Obama socialist..."
You get the picture.
I nearly threw the radio at the wall. After that morning I haven't listened to NPR regularly since.
I burst into laughter every time I read these sorts of posts. Purity tests. We could never have the fairness doctrine return because no person from either party would listen to a station that allowed views that they disagreed with.
I don't have TV. Because it's awful. I catch NPR in car to/ from work. During election total Trump! Top of the hour all Trump for few mins, quick aside there's Clinton campaign stuff too but later, back to Trump! This happened pretty regularly. Another case, one of the morning commentators giggling about the journalists striking it big by turning Trump into cottage industry.
Sickening.

A Prince hardened mercenary army will eventually and inevitably be turned against the American citizenry.
We pay for, then lead each other to our own gas chambers.

His "army", minus the ideology, bears a srtrong resemblance to other terrorist organizations.

Wonder if it will come out some day that he was a conduit to Putin for 45?

(31,261 posts)People like Prince don't have a footprint unless the US military is there to cover their mercenary asses. He won't go into Afghanistan and fight the taliban with just his mercenaries.

(11,949 posts)This has been on the news pretty extensively and NPR is just being good journalist. That had an article on it this morning and with an official who was very critical of the idea.
Even the BBC has all sides in and questions them both.

(61,710 posts)The rules under which his mercenaries operate are cruel and antithetical to the ethics the military must follow. The long term result of treating people this way is resentment towards the US and the growth of terrorism against the US.

(2,198 posts)drain all the money from social safety programs and put it into the military so the Trumpeter mob can steal it all through military contracts. Why won't our Congress see this. This is how a lot of the money was stolen from the Russian people.

(25,704 posts)Congress should issue Letter of Marque and Reprisal to a foreign entity (I was recommending the Zetas but they seem a spent force. Gulf Cartel or maybe Nueva Jalisco). Give them a billion dollars and be done with it.
