I don't know how to do it, but I would love it if some one would prepare a petition to the DOJ to invesitgate Romney

(3,596 posts)even if there is evidence to suggest RMoney has lied in his disclosure statements about when he terminated his involvement in Bain, DOJ action on this is very risky. It would feed into the right's paranoia and talking points that the President (that evil-doer that killed OBL) is out to get poor RMoney (his wife is crying again). They would make political hay out of that action.
I would prefer that "real journalists" continue to probe this along with the assertion that all his money is in blind trusts when the trustee is one of his best friends to his flip-flopping, etc. It is better to have the battle won when RMoney's repeated lies and shenanigans are exposed in the public square rather than through legal action by the DOJ.
Don't get me wrong, he has possibly committed a crime and I think the time has come to stop treating those committing "white collar" crimes with kid gloves. They need to do hard time in the same scary places we have for other criminals. But this approach is likely to backfire.
