(1,682 posts)Senators are planning to continue procedural moves to prevent the Senate from formally adjourning for recess next month in order to prevent President Donald Trump from making recess appointments, when the chamber eventually adjourns through the Labor Day weekend.

(22,912 posts)I suspect that Republican leadership in the Senate will not take the actions that they did last year to formally avoid a recess so as to block any chance Obama would have to make any recess appointments.
Trump could act to do so in August - Republicans will make disapproving noise and say how inappropriate it was for Trump to do so, after it's a done deal. That way they can all avoid the embarrassment of having to cast any actual votes at confirmation hearings any time soon.
