One chart that explains the DCCC's willingness to fund anti-choice Democrats

https://www.voterstudygroup.org/reports/2016-elections/political-divisions-in-2016-and-beyond

Social conservatives/economic conservatives all vote Republican

Social liberals/social conservatives all vote Democratic.

Social liberals/economic conservatives are irrelevant because they barely exist

Social conservatives/economic liberals decide elections.

Yes, it sucks to have to include people with bad views on reproductive choice in the big tent. But, the alternative is to let Republicans govern the country with a free hand.

We must be clear-eyed about the country we actually live in, even while hoping for a country that looks better down the road. It won't look better down the road if we can't win elections.

Fascinating chart.

Beyond the question of supporting centrist candidates with less than ideal social attitudes, it is just an interesting view of the electorate.

etc so their numbers tend to be exaggerated, whereas their polar opposites tend to be underrepresented.

This chart shocked me when I saw it.

It's disappointing, and even infuriating sometimes. But, I am really struck by remembering the pro-life Democrats who maintained the Democratic majority in my state legislature, and how much I miss them.

I certainly am not willing to kiss up to coat hanger types based on a chart.
