If he'd pardoned those who were charged and/or convicted while he was still president, even more shit would have hit the fan. Nixon was already in such deep crap that he didn't dare.

I'm serious. Given what I know is possible in this Trump situation, I'd much rather have Nixon and KEEP him rather than deal with this insanity. The choice of Nixon or Trump would be easy. I'm sure Nixon wasn't the only POTUS to overstep his bounds and the way Trump is going he will start another world war.

However, he was neither stupid nor insane - although he is said to have started drinking heavily and wandering around the WH talking to the portraits of dead presidents as the Watergate investigations closed in on him.

I don't think he was insane and that is what we have now.

I really don't think he would sell us out to the Russians either.
