8. I think they are trying to bait Mueller and his

team to publicly affirm or deny; therefore dragging the Mueller team into a tit-for-tat. Mueller and his team are smart enough to ignore them.

Robert Mueller wouldn't allow any communications with Trump or his team. It would be grossly unethical. This is a PR effort, probably as part of Team Trump's attempt to create a cause to dismiss Mr. Mueller.

It seems pretty unlikely that Mr. Mueller would care whether Trump appreciates his work. In sum, this is simply more garbage from Trump.
