I am actually moved by the number of high ranking military people defending trans service members.

It's hard to feel optimistic about anything with a Golem in the White house but this is a seminal moment.

As Dr. King said "The arc of the moral universe is long but it bends to justice."

as a contractor. As a group they are all about protocol and rules. There are both for how a rule change is supposed to happen. This completely arbitrary change definitely falls far outside that. They are smart enough to realize if this rule can be changed in this way, what other rules are subject to the same treatment.

that they are probably far more offended by their commander-in-chief's "going rogue" on the military way of establishing policy than the effect the ban will have on morale. In fact, I recall seeing a story that suggested that the Pentagon was not consulted beforehand.

7. This just in: Iowa House race won by Dem; GOP had attacked his trans support

Just saw this on twitter:
https://rewire.news/article/2017/08/09/iowa-democrat-wins-special-election-amid-gop-attacks-support-transgender-rights/

There was a special election held for a State House seat. Republicans based their campaign in no small part on attacking Democrat Phil Miller because as a School District Board Member he supported trans student equality.

He won. In Iowa.

A transgender supportive Democrat.

In Iowa.

Perhaps, just maybe, the military leaders defending trans service members is having a ripple effect?

In that time, I worked for and talked with several general officers. With a couple of notable exceptions, they were brilliant men and women. All had a well developed sense of right and wrong and a strong moral compass.

It's not surprising that military leaders would oppose Trump's idiotic statement.

I remain unconvinced that Trump's "policy" to ever be reduced to regulations.

It looks like the military has grown up a lot more than the general population in this area. At least they know how much it takes to train a good soldier and don't want to lose any of them.

I love to see any break between military brass and the GOP. They are few and far between.
