So why is Trump's lawyer complaining about the raid on Manafort's house?

An interesting discussion on Rachel's show. Trump is trying to keep his distance but his lawyer is having fits about how Manafort's rights were allegedly violated? Where's Manafort's lawyer, and why is Trump's lawyer defending Manafort?

Very strange. Very fishy.

I don't think there should be any surprise in the FBI raiding and I definitely think the Trump lawyers are nervous...

in the public's mind as to whether the evidence was legally obtained.

Of course it was pursuant to a proper warrant, but watch for them to manipulate the base into believing the raid was improper and therefore the evidence is tainted. It's a ridiculous argument but 30% of Americans will think it's true.

Sure, but that would be the job of Manafort's lawyer. Having Trump's lawyer do it makes Trump look guilty as hell.

Manafort's lawyer would be expected to gripe about the raid, but if Trump is trying to keep his distance from Manafort (while looking for another bus to throw him under), it seems really bizarre and foolish for Trump's lawyer to leap to his defense. He might be trying to sow doubt, but by defending Manafort, who is not his client, so defiantly it only makes it look like Trump's interests are all tangled up with Manafort's (which is almost certainly true).

hopefully change the Narrative. Watch for more of this verbal shit storms to happen on a daily basis. Trump Crime Family is very very scared that their Grift is about to take a change for the worst.

Notice that Pence was sitting by Trump this afternoon at his Bullshit capture the Media Cycle .

since Trump has no expectation of privacy in whatever they find in Manafort's home.

Trump does not have an expectation of privacy in Manafort's home, so whatever they found there is fair game to use against Trump.

(Manafort, himself - through HIS lawyer - could challenge the validity of the warrant, and could suppress any evidence against him - IF he wins the challenge. That same evidence, however, could be used against Trump. Probably why he's complaining about Manafort's rights - hoping Manafort's attorney will assert Manafort's rights . . . not that it does Trump any good.)

on Manafort's home. And since Manafort isn't John Dowd's client, he (Dowd) doesn't have the authority to do squat for anybody but Trump.

"It does not appear that the White House is trying to distance itself from Manafort anymore," said Andy Wright, a former associate counsel to President Barack Obama who is now a professor at Savannah Law School.

Manafort chaired the campaign for nearly five months, including in the lead-up to the Republican National Convention, and his relationship with Trump and one of his close advisers, Roger Stone, goes back decades.

Experts said Dowd's reaction to news of the raid, however, indicates that Trump's lawyers view Manafort's legal troubles as connected to the president's. Dowd also purported to know details about the affidavit the FBI presented to the judge to obtain the search warrant, suggesting that Wednesday's media reports were not the first time he had heard of the raid — or considered how to respond to it.
