"He's acting like diplomats are just construction workers he can release with a wave of his hand."

"It's really disrespectful to treat them this way."

Just heard these exact words on Stephanie Ruhles show, by an otherwise sensible guy.

Of course he is right, but it struck me as a classic moment of clarity about why rich media and the swamp are hated.

Because if you make your living as a construction worker in America, there is no respect. You can be released with a wave of the hand, and there's no job security. And that's just life, for the bottom 80%.

You know, just in case a stapler is missing from the embassy, and they have to figure out if one of the departing lifted it.

I don't understand why there is any expectation that would ever be driven by the standard conventions and procedures that have defined the presidency for as long as any of us has been here to see it. He defined himself as a character and candidate as operating without basic rules of courtesty and diplomacy.
He promised to be that guy in the WH and that is one promise he has not broken. As horrify and terrifying as it has been, I think that none of what he has said has surprised me. What bothers me more is that people are being too conventional about encouraging him and having any expectation that he might deicide to actually act like a president.

for years about how the USA needs a CEO and not a president... well?

I read in Vanity Fair that Jared and others who were charged with staffing up the wast wing were shocked to find it empty when they arrived. They had some stupid idea that an incoming administration was like a corporate takeover... that all of the employees would remain in place and they could weed them out at will over time. THEY HAD NO IDEA. how government works and they don't to this day.

For 45, cutting these diplomats loose is just like stiffing contractors, it improves his bottom line. Only it's not HIS anything. It is the infrastructure of OUR government that has been built painstakingly by foreign service professionals over a century.

He just does not give a shit about anyone's life or treasure other than his own and that includes the treasure of OUR government.

that the skills of even a business mogul would transfer to the office POTUS. Of course, that myth that Trump has ever been truly successful may live on with some.

He's trying to demonstrate how the expelled staff is just water off a duck by turning it into a joke.

At his core, he's a NYC Wise Guy - busting chops, pulling legs. He's thinks he's a fucking riot and so do his mouth-breathing voters.
