1. Ratchet up the war of words with Trump.
2. Lob a missile (no warhead) towards Guam.
3. Trump attacks N. Korean launch sites with B2 bombers.
4. North Korea DOES NOTHING.
5. China and North Korea go to UN; N. Korea is the victim, US is the aggressor.
6. Sanctions are lifted against North Korea.
7. China's power is increased in Asia, US power declines immensely.
8. PROFIT!

9. Bonus points if S. Korea kicks out part or all of US military presence.

First you are assuming that China either has control over North Korea or is that least in on their plans.

Second you believe China cares about the sanctions. China has a contiguous border with NK. It would be very easy to simply ignore the sanctions.

Also you assume NK is a profit market. They are a money drain on China.

But I do have to say as nutty as I wrote this post, Malcolm Nance did say on Stephanie Miller that he expected North Korea to try to do something that would gloat Trump into a first strike.

6. If NK lobs a missile toward Guam, warhead or not, they have committed and act of war.

If they did that, and Trump only attacks NK launch sites, the UN wouldn't do a thing outside of reprimanding NK for their act of aggression and ignorance.

No one would go to the UN and say "sure we shot a missile at Guam, but we were just trying to trick people."
