Obama Camp ‘Not Satisfied’ With Romney’s Answer On Bain

Obama Camp ‘Not Satisfied’ With Romney’s Answer On Bain

President Obama’s campaign is “not satisfied” with the details of Mitt Romney’s departure from Bain Capital, and would like to see more of Romney’s tax returns as well as minutes from Bain Capital meetings, reports NBC’s White House correspondent Kristen Welker.

In interviews with five television networks on Friday evening, the former governor maintained that he had no direct involvement with the management of Bain Capital after February 1999, and suggested he would not be releasing additional tax returns.

We may never know what it is, but the Obama team is clearly totally not budging here - maybe it will come out. Regardless they've been gearing up for this for quite a while knowing Romney was pretty much a sure be. I'll bet this is only the beginning...

If this is the big finale, they launched it too soon. I trust that they know what they are doing (and probably had this timed to the day 8 months ago), but if this doesn't keep dripping for 6 more weeks, I hope they have more.

for me to believe that they'd be that smart, but then be dumb enough to get the timing all wrong.

It just seems so soon for something this explosive to hit, that failed to take root during the primaries. Maybe this was the timing all along, or maybe they were just ready and prepared to jump on it with a full court press when it did hit. We will probably never know.

It does give a lot of time for damage control though.

I think there's more and this is only the beginning. They are letting this come out slowly (imo) to maximize the damage.

doesn't matter that it didn't come out in the primaries. The primary candidates all either 1. lacked the funds and experience to do the necessary research, or 2. had too many skeletons in their own closets.

Obama doesn't seem to have any skeletons in his closets. Makes it a lot harder to reach a back room agreement not to go there.

Mixing metaphors here, Obama is the dealer here. Mittster has to play the hand Obama gives him.

This is brilliant political opera. (To mix in yet another metaphor.)

I am loving this.

If Romney was not running Bain Capital after 1999 and did not have a say in decisions made why was his name left on Bain Capital's filings for three years. Second, if Romney was not the CEO and/or Managing Director of the company who was?

I watched the CBS Evening News interview with Romney. He was asked about being the CEO of Bain Capital, but did not answer the question. He instead brought up some other talking point.

Since Romney is using the Nixon playbook, how long will it be before he too is reduced to declaring "I am not a crook". Oh, wait, it didn't work so well the last time so he will need to parse it a little bit better but it will be out there in some form.

Then why was he paid at least $100,000, was the company CEO, the only stock holder, and
left the Olympics to go to business meetings involving companies that Bain owned? And why
did the SEC filings show Mitt to be the CEO of the corporation?

22. Mitt "Rob Me" is SO Bain!

Jul 2012

I'm new to DU--but glad to be here and glad to see the Obama campaign in fighting mode! Bain will be Mitt Rob Me's downfall!
I penned this little ditty in honor of my first post--it practically wrote itself--and a big Thank You to Carly Simon--

YOU'RE SO BAIN
You walked into the Good Old Party like you were walking onto a yacht,
Your taxes strategically hid below our eyes,
Your candidacy was BOUGHT.
You had one eye on the White House, as you watched our jobs go "BYE"
And Wall Street dreams that they'll be your partner, they'll be your partner--

AND-YOU"RE SO BAIN, you 'probly' think this song is about you.
YOU"RE SO BAIN, you 'probly' think this song is about you, don't you? Don't you? Don't you?

Well, you shucked a lot of workers several years ago, when we were still quite naive,
Then you said "You're bankrupt, your company's done, and that we had better leave.
Then you took away the jobs we loved and shipped them overseas
We had some dreams--now they're clouds in our coffee, and more money in your coffer--
AND--
YOU"RE SO BAIN, you 'probly' think this song is about you.
YOU"RE SO BAIN, I'll bet you think this song is about you, don't you? Don't you? Don't you?

Well we hear you went to Ann's "Dressage" events and your horse naturally won,
Then you flew your Lear jet out to California to build a bigger beach house for your sons.

Well, you're where you should be all the time,
And when you're not, you're with --
Some Swiss financier, or your stash in the Caymans, stash in the Caymans --

AND--- YOU"RE SO BAIN, you 'probly' think this song is about you
YOU"RE SO BAIN, I'll bet you think this song is about you, don't you? Don't you? Don't you?
