I'm hearing that we need to understand that people are hurting and living in poverty

and that is what is driving the anger on the alt right.

Really?

How poor are you when you can afford to own multiple guns, assault rifles (starting price, $700) etc? How poor are you when you own a decked out pick up truck (base price on a new Ford F-150: $28,000) that you drive hundreds of miles to attend white supremacy rallies? How cheap are those Nazi flags you wave and Nazi uniforms you wear?

Poverty driving white supremacy? Don't think so. Don't think it even enters into it.

It's a matter of racism, coupled with white privilege, coupled with a sense of entitlement, coupled with political and religious beliefs that encourage you to think that you are better than "others," simply because you are white and they aren't.

Who needs poverty as an excuse when you have all of the above feeding your hatred?

Most of the dirtbags at that rally looked like privileged frat boys. If you can afford all that faux-military regalia, flags, guns and other accoutrements you're not poor. While there might be some sympathizers and mom's basement keyboard warriors who can't afford AK-47s and Nazi flags because they are too weird and creepy to get or hold jobs, they didn't become white supremacists because they're poor. They became white supremacists because they want excuses for being losers.

They cry about being disenfranchised - what they mean is they aren't being treated like the master races they think they are.

Fuck them all. They need to be in prison - the are terrorists and if their skin wasn't white they'd be in prison or dead.

10. I read somewhere on DU and nowhere else that there were 200 alt Nazis in Charlottesville

That really is not what I thought from the news. I am sure that you could find 200 trust fund Nazis without much effort. Think about how many show up at NASCAR or NFL events.

Ohioan caught; copter crash kills 2

Fields's father was killed by a drunk driver a few months before the boy's birth, according to an uncle who spoke on the condition of anonymity. His father left him money that the uncle kept in a trust until Fields reached adulthood.

“When he turned 18, he demanded his money, and that was the last I had any contact with him,” the uncle said.

are generally not poor. They are white guys, mostly young, who are afraid that they won't own EVERYTHING as time marches on.

They hate that white males no longer dominate 100% of our culture.

14. My right wing nephew put himself into major debt buying guns

So much debt that he had to move home to my sister in laws home at 30 years old. No girlfriend and a so so job. I know he voted for thump proudly. His father raised him on Rush ideology and he used to call me a looney liberal from California. Fast forward years later the father was so incompetent in his finances he had to short sell his house and his son had to move out. He got an apartment with friends but his gun obsession put him in debt and he had to move in with mother. She makes him keep his guns in his truck and not in her house.
