(58,648 posts)guess that term has gone out of favor, but yeah, Trump incited this and riled his "base" up.

(11,254 posts)Since there is a 100% chance they don't know the meaning of the word, it is quite deterministic that it is too complex for all of them!

(11,736 posts)He said, "Metaphorically". The reality is the Trump has stoked racial resentment from White supremacists who feel that the inevitable march toward truer equality is an attack on their survival. He certainly facilitated the events that took place by casting Black people as savages, but also as victims of "liberal oppression" living in hell holes, rather than intelligently discussing the factors that contribute to increased violence in areas where there is less economic opportunity, more crowding, and racial tensions.
Trump has never explicitly ordered anyone to commit violence, but as seen at his rallies throughout the campaign, he certainly danced right up to that line and arguably stepped across it.
I don't actually see that much controversy in his statement.

Moral Compass
(1,520 posts)This was inevitable.
He gave the racists, the neo-nazis, the kkk, and the white supremacists permission to express their hate. At his rallies he encouraged crowd violence against peaceful protesters.
He hired Steve Bannon the inheritor and guiding hand of Breitbart as his chief strategist--an avowed, unapologetic racist and anti-Semite. Oh yeah, Bannon hates Muslims too.
What did anyone expect?
This was as inevitable as night following day.
