Square that one with the voters Mitt. Go ahead, try. Of course you could point out that McCain hasn't seen all your recent returns either, he last checked in 2008. With the exception of 2010 no one has seen those. You could reassure folks with that observation. Yeah, try that. Besides why would voters need to know as much about your finances as a former Party leader? You may be running for President but Chief Executive Officers aren't really accountable for things that happen during their legal tenure. We've been through all this with Bain, voters understand. No biggie.

(31,706 posts)Doesn't seem like he's working for Rmoney. They had the Gingrich campaign manager on the teevee yesterday who said he had information that questioned Willard's timing in leaving Bain and his playing fast and loose with the tax and security laws...but were deluged by negative pub within the rushpublican coven and never could use it.
Willard is a spoiled asshat...and one that many of his own party don't like. Maybe there are some inside the party who see how flawed of a candidate he is and hoping to quietly provide the ammo to torpedo his campaign before the convention and then hope for that coveted brokered nomination. Surely the Paulbots dream of this...and as long as Mittens lets this drip drip drip its going to follow him wherever he goes.
Bottom line is if Willard releases his taxes publicly his candidacy is cooked. It'll be the financial equivelent of the Starr report with tons of details of his corrupt finances made public.
Someone out there has it in for Willard and it's just not Democrats but I'll gladly take the help...

(37,648 posts)What would be the point of giving tax returns to McCain personally? Romney was being vetted as a VP?
Whether the returns impacted McCain's decision to choose him as a VP, it's my understanding that that was never gonna happen. McCain couldn't stand him personally. And politically, there was nothing Romney had to offer.

(22,912 posts)His statement that Romney basically paid no taxes for 12 years can only be rebuffed in one way; by Romney releasing his taxes - unless they prove Reid right. Reid is reenforcing a growing belief that Romney has something to hide. By saying that Romney has avoided paying his fair share of taxes Read in filling in that blank with an answer that is becoming the default public assumption.
