Sessions Dirty Privacy Trick: Use a Retired Reagan Judge to Get a Warrant on 1.3 Million Americans.

AUSA's Jennifer Kerkoff and John W. Bochert in the District of Columbia's AUSA's office are after Dreamhost, Inc. to produce the personal information of 1.3 million Americans who visited the Resistance site,

Their reasoning? A "violent riot" that occurred in DC on January 20, 2017. 200 people arrested. Prosecutors Kerkoff and Bochert claim that the website was instrumental in organizing that riot. So they want the records of everyone who visited the website. 1.3 million Americans.

Now, the judges of the DC Superior Court are no dummies. Wertheim, the judge who signed off on the warrant was a Reagan appointee, honorably served and has been retired with senior status since 1992. I imagine that puts him in his 80's or 90's. I'm glad he's still active enough to serve his country.

But let's not kid ourselves here. Do you think the Justice Department and the AUSAs told the retired judge "By the way sir, we need the info on 1.3 million Americans because of 200 arrests?" Do you think the judge understood he would be giving over the information on 1.3 milliion Americans when he signed that warrant?

Sessions' DOJ didn't ask any active judge. They didn't ask any retired judge who is a designated backup for criminal matters. No, they asked the unassigned retired judge who doesn't even have a hyperlink to a bio page:

This excellent Kos diary has great links and comments.

for overflow and the like. But this is a warrant on 1.3 million Americans involved in a political protest. I am suggesting the choice was deliberate.

This is a move against the 1st and 4th amendments both. They have no right to that information.

So if a murder occurs in a stadium with 30,000 people the Feds can get a warrant on everyone there???

Would be more efficient for Trump to list his small group of supporters and just assume everyone else is against him.
