I don't think he cares who or what he has to sacrifice to get the "win." He has no ability to empathize with anyone and is 100% focused on his own needs.

Just look at the way he treats his wife in public, essentially leaving her to fend for herself walking up the ramp to a plane, closing the car door, etc.
