A Confederate plaque on the west wall of the Hudson Bay in downtown Montreal was removed Tuesday evening.

... Located on the Hudsons Bay wall facing Union Ave., the plaque had been there since 1957. It read in French: To the memory of Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederate States, who lived in 1867 in the home of John Lovell, which was once here.
After spending two years in a U.S. prison, Davis came to Montreal in 1867 to join his family, which had fled here earlier. He lived in Lennoxville until 1868 ...
