We removed the "Whites only" and the "Colored Drinking Fountain" signs.

We can do the same with statues, so many of which were erected in that same era, installed specifically to reinforce the message behind those signs, and the flag that was revived and flown to show support for the hate.

"Heritage" like that belongs in a museum, alongside photos of Emmit Till in his coffin for full historical perspective and context.

She was from NY so didn't even notice the sign. My dad runs over: "Stop! That's the wrong one!"

It wasn't that he was racist: My dad worked at an ivy league university with people from all over the world. He was just into following directions and not doing anything that would draw attention. Back then, it's what you did. You followed directions.
