which we knew to be "Swiftboating" or making shit up and attacking a candidate with it. They said it was a legitimate, two-sided story.
Now that Romney is being legitimately attacked for his actual actions and words.
They call it Swiftboating.
Un-Fucking-believable!!

(33,579 posts)The attacks on him and Bain are legitimate. Kerry was Swiftboated, they lied about his military service.
Don't perpetuate the distortion!!!

(45,274 posts)as telling one side of "a legitimate, two-sided story," maybe that definition holds for this case of alleged swiftboating as well.
Personally, though, I just think of it as torpedoing rMoney.

(33,579 posts)they didn't define it that way, they denied it was happening and said the story was worthy.
Now they are hypocritically using the term for a legitimate story to cast doubt on it's legitimacy.

(33,579 posts)the story is questionable, which it is not.
The Magistrate
(95,247 posts)Now it just means an effective and unexpected attack against something assumed to be unassailable.
"Romney loves America like a tick loves a dog."

(33,579 posts)the repeated questions from pundits asking Romney if he is being swiftboated belie your point.
The Magistrate
(95,247 posts)And the answer to that is certainly 'Yes!'
"Romney loves America like a tick loves a dog."

(33,579 posts)the question was asked.
To me they were clearly asking if he was being attacked without supporting facts.
I think it is how most people heard the question.
And since it can be inferred either way, why promote a term that can backfire on us?

(9,372 posts)I look upon the swift boating episode as one of the most disgraceful periods in our history. Republicans should have been very much blackmarked over that with the lies (especially by that scumbag hack Jerome Corsi). Why Kerry didn't respond still gets me. This is not b.s. Willard the Rat needs to address it. He's trying to stay in denial. Good. The longer he denies it, the more the damage to his haughty self.
