My Joe Arpaio story

After Bush v. Gore, I followed a link to email addresses for every member of the Electoral College sending a letter to every one asking them not to circumvent the will of the people by installing GWB to the presidency.

I received one return email. From the Office of Joe Arpaio. He informed me I had committed a felony: "tampering with a member of the Electoral College." He added that the information had been sent to the prosecutor's office in Phoenix, Arizona, and that I would be hearing from them soon.

Fast forward to 2017. Still waiting to hear from them. Never did wear that pink jail underwear.

In the meantime, it has become one of the proudest moments of political activism I participated in. Receiving this threatening email from Arpaio just made it all the more awesome.

I think some other DUers may also have heard from him. High five guys!!

On edit: It was a pre-DU link. Maybe Media Whores or some other early site. DU started on Inauguration Day, so it had to predate this site.

I once got slapped with a slew of violations while parked in a lot in Tempe looking at a map. Expired tags, expired license, and no insurance evidence, mandatory court appearance in AZ the following week. Okay, my bads, but I'd been in a hurry to get somewhere and was figuring out how to get back when one of their finest spotted a revenue opportunity, i.e. a California plate, and did his thing. Needless to say I haven't returned.
