Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) is pushing an amendment to severely curtail special counsel Robert Muellers investigation into the Trump campaigns ties to Russia.
DeSantis has put forward a provision that would halt funding for Muellers probe six months after the amendments passage. It also would prohibit Mueller from investigating matters that occurred before June 2015, when Trump launched his presidential campaign.
The amendment is one of hundreds filed to a government spending package the House is expected to consider when it returns next week from the August recess. The provision is not guaranteed a vote on the House floor; the House Rules Committee has wide leeway to discard amendments it considers out of order.
DeSantis office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

I wonder if, were DeSantos implicated in the investigation or thought he might be, it would then become obstruction of justice?

(1,097 posts)If @RepDeSantis defunds you, set up a GoFundMe account for your probe. You'll get all the money you need, and then some.
As usual, twitter doesn't fail to rise to the occasion.

(82,849 posts)Isn't Rep. DeSantis interested in totally exonerating President Trump? After all, since we all know this is a hoax and fake news - the President said so many times - doesn't DeSantis want to see Trump given a clean report from the special counsel? What if there are still lingering questions in six months? Is DeSantis anxious to see those clouds continue to gather and trouble Trump's agenda?
I'll bet in less than three days, DeSantis withdraws this little trial balloon and walks away trying to pretend this little proposal just wrote itself.
