Trump's Springfield speech today will be closed to the public

But I think we can count on the WH to arrange a cheering section for President Fragile Ego...

From the Springfield News-Leader yesterday:

http://www.news-leader.com/story/news/politics/2017/08/28/white-house-releases-more-details-ahead-president-trumps-springfield-visit/607371001/

The president's plans call for him to arrive at the Springfield-Branson National Airport just before 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and then drive to the Loren Cook Company, which makes ventilation equipment, 2707 N. Barnes St.

Trump is expected to speak shortly afterward about tax reform, though the president is not known for sticking to his scripts. He's expected to depart after the conclusion of his speech, and a White House spokeswoman said he had no other events planned in Springfield.

-snip-

"It's not a public event,", a White House spokeswoman told the News-Leader. "It's a closed event."

Asked who besides members of the news media would be allowed in, the spokeswoman said, "That's what you'll be covering on Wednesday."

-snip-

"That's what you'll be covering on Wednesday."

How cute.

4. It's a "kickoff event" (WH term) to push for tax reform/cuts. There will be media coverage.

The company he's going to is owned by a campaign donor.

Holy cow! Imagine how insanely unpopular a Republican president has to be (with the public and his own party) in order to hide while giving a speech on tax cuts!

With all Trump's bullshit,
they'll need a lot of ventilation.

12. I think Democrats need to emphasize how tax cuts would hurt storm rescue efforts.

As well as NOAA (which helps track and predict storms), the National Hurricane Center (which I'm sure the R's would privatize, given the chance), FEMA (which is underfunded anyway). In addition to all the other problems with tax cuts.

They have to avoid being too careful here. Emphasize what people will LOSE.

13. Yet the taxpayer is paying for AF1 to fly him out there? Should be public.

How many of these campaign flights are being paid for by the repubs?

Tax reform is our business, too.
