Similar flood in India and Bangladesh and two weeks ago it was Sierra Leone.

Over 1,000 died in Sierra Leone.

I fear he's correct. Unfortunately, I also fear that the golden moment for capturing the president's attention has passed, and Texas may find out what true federal indifference is all about.

People don't have enough respect for the damage moving water can do. As an old Navy friend said, if ya ain't got gills it ain't your friend.

It flooded, obviously. But it's basically next to the stream at the bottom of a valley.

"Bayou" is Houstonian for "stream" or "creek."

All of the photos were heartrending, but the photo of that poor pup hanging on to the guardrail for dear life just broke my heart.

I saw a piece of video footage on an early morning news program Monday, showing him standing in the doorway while a woman, apparently their mother, handed the kids over to him. The video was shot from inside the house, looking outward through the door.

As each of the children was handed to him, they reached out to him, then clutched and clung to him as if they knew he was saving their little lives. Such complete trust. He turned and walked away from the doorway and into the rain and the water with them wrapped around his neck. I was in tears when the video cut off there, and spent a LOT of time that day looking for it at the various network news program sites, on youtube, and googling. Never found a trace of it.

Then yesterday while looking through a series of photos on DU, there was this one. The open door (and possibly the mother) are in the background.

Now the photo is everywhere, but I've still not seen any sign of the video. Has anyone else seen it? If so, would you please share the link. It was so much more intense than the photo alone.

Takes a lot to wring tears from me. I guess I just want to relive the moment.

And share it with others.

Not for the faint of heart as there are photos of dogs tied up or dead. Lots of devastating destruction to humans too.

I keep wondering where the person who took the photo was and what their circumstances were.

Just incredible images. I'm in awe.
