Conway slams CNN anchor climate change questions during Harvey

BY MALLORY SHELBOURNE - 08/31/17 09:24 AM EDT

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway in a prime time interview Wednesday slammed CNN’s Chris Cuomo for asking about climate change as rescue operations continue for the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

“Chris we’re trying to help the people whose lives are literally under water and you want to have a conversation about climate change,” Conway said after Cuomo asked about addressing climate change in the wake of the storm.

“I mean, that is, I’m not going to engage in that right now because I work for a president and a vice president and a country that is very focused on helping the millions of affected Texans, and, god forbid, Louisianans if it ends up.” Cuomo then pressed Conway on finding ways to reduce the number of super storms.

“You’re going to play climatologist tonight?” Conway replied.

“Here’s the deal,” Conway continued. “You play amateur climatologist tonight and I will play professional helper to those in need, and continue in my job here, as counselor to the president, to help listen to the Cabinet members, the president, the vice president, FEMA, DHS and others, General Kelly, who could not be a better chief of staff equipped for a matter like Harvey since he was at DHS and is accustomed to large-scale operations as such.”

Sure..don't talk about it and it will go away.

If we don't use this disaster to get serious about climate change we can all sit around in wet blankets and watch chemical facilities and nuclear power plants, etc.
explode all over the coastline of the USA. Coastal facilities of all sorts will have to shut down and be moved inland. Whole continents will have their populations contract inwards. This is the future we have assured ourselves and our children by ignoring the climate crisis.

that the GOP constantly fights. One of the biggest problems with our system of government IMHO, is that given four and six year terms of office it is never in the interest of our elected officials to think or plan long term looking at the big picture. I'm not certain how to correct that. Sure the parties have their platforms that speak to long term goals and ideals, but hope is not a plan, and the constant warring between parties guarantees that big picture planning never takes place.

The old football analogy for government... five yards forward, five yards backwards cannot hold the center a anymore. Someone needs to be unafraid to go down-field.

That one moment when it's just right to discuss possible solutions to recurring problems. The slight gasp and offended, "How could you talk politics at a time like this?" from those who know that their political position is bankrupt by any measure - human, moral or otherwise. Then, when the crisis has sufficiently passed, the excuse is "Why are you dwelling on the past?" There's never a moment when Goldilocks has found the porridge, the chair, or the bed that's just right.

Up yours, Conway.

bullshit because at dramatic times of people's lives they are particularly open to new information. Kellyanne knows people are open to new information during a 1000 year crisis, new information is how humans survived crisis. She knows they could very well start to care about climate change as they wonder the meaning of Harvey in the days and weeks to come. No doubt the GOP have had this response at the ready. They deal in the dark psychological arts. Chris Como was naturally informing the public of the meaning of such a tragedy. That is his job. Kellyanne is the one disrupting that process for political reasons.
