The drought will present the food industry with another opportunity to permanently raise prices

the effect will be staggering to the economy in the long run. Everything from bread to salad dressing will increase dramatically in price. Nothing will remain cheap. Every manufacturer will raise prices exponentially because of the 'lack' of grain, that same grain we export in mind boggling quantities, that same grain we grow for ethanol. And you bet gas prices will climb because ethanol will skyrocket.

It's gonna suck for a long time.

Sorry.

I'm going to go make toast and enjoy it, because they already shrunk my Pop Tarts to the size of a matchbook.

Which may not be a bad thing.

The only meat I buy is chicken and pork roasts, which for some reason are still cheap.

They only grow one crop and that destroys the soil.

American is going to learn the hard way that the only way to farm is with smaller more diverse crops being continually rotated.
