Ok, I know I should know this...

but I don't. I apologize in advance for my ignorance.

Repukes argue that Citizens United has leveled the playing field with unions ( In other words unions had an unfair advantage). This part I know--Unions have never spent the amounts of money that are being spent now--this is the part I don't know--weren't there limits on unions and what they could spend?

They weren't given free reign to spend obscene amounts while hiding behind anonymity. Right?

I know Citizens United is horrible. I just couldn't figure out what the hell they were whining about...talking about level playing fields now

Because "both" can do it now. But unions are broke for all intents and purposes. Note Harry Reid's statements today about "17 people just bought the government".

Rachel had a segment tonight on DISCLOSE that talks about why the (R)s like Snowe, Collins, McCain, etc jumped to vote it down. She had some amazing graphs showing the spending in 2010 and so far in 2012 - Rs outweighing Ds by over 2 to 1.

Should be online in a bit.
