Democrats Like Both Clinton And Sanders, But Dont Want Either To Seek Presidency Again
Most Democrats still like both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, but few want to see either run for president again, a new HuffPost/YouGov survey finds.
... Democrats and Democratic leaners say by a 10-point margin, 49 percent to 39 percent, that Clinton was not the party’s best option for a nominee last year. Fourteen percent say she was mostly to blame for Trump’s victory, with 37 percent calling her somewhat at fault, 24 percent saying that she’s not very much at fault, and 16 percent saying that she’s not to blame at all. Looking forward, just 20 percent want to see Clinton run for president again, but 47 percent say they’d like to see her remain active in politics in other ways, while 23 percent want her to retire. Thirty percent want to see Sanders take another stab at the presidency, with 46 percent preferring him to engage in other facets of politics, and 12 percent wishing he would retire. Both the “Clinton wing” and “Sanders wing” of the party ― defined as those who view one of those politicians positively, but the other negatively ― are relatively small. A 54 percent majority of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents view both Clinton and Sanders favorably, according to the poll. Sixteen percent like Sanders but not Clinton, while 12 percent like Clinton, but not Sanders. Another 6 percent hold a negative view of both. More at link... but not much. 2. Sounds about right to me...
A small minority would want either one to go but most don't...
Coupled with a general hope that they stay involved. |

3. I love Hillary but her time is past Bernie's is more than past at his age.
It is time for a new generation.

4. That's more or less my stance.
Third time isn't the charm, and the other will be too old. He was already borderline for me in that regard last time.

5. I took that poll.
As always it asks binary questions and leaves no room for nuance.

6. I think people want somebody new.
I just hope this feeling doesn't mean that people are biased against older politicians since I don't think that age should be a barrier to running unless one is very old or ill. People are living longer and healthier lives these days so I don't consider a politician in their 70s, for example, to be too old to run for office.
I don't like the anti-Boomer sentiment that I sometimes see when discussing politics, including from some liberals. And I am saying this as a guy from a younger cohort. I think experience means a lot in politics and shouldn't be dismissed lightly. |

7. I'm really sick of the speculation about the next Presidential election
It's 2017 and that election is in 2020. A whole lot can happen in that amount of time.
Hillary and/or Bernie could do something miraculous that has the entire Democratic base demanding that she/he run again. Hillary and/or Bernie could do something that has the entire Democratic base demanding that they be put in prison. Hillary and/or Bernie could die. In my opinion, we need to concentrate on the damage that Trump is doing to this country right now. |

8. I hope they both stay involved but
I don't want them to run again, we already elected Hillary once and we all know what happened there.
If she ran again it would be the same old rehashed to death thing about emails and Benghazi and every other thing they've thrown at her for 30 years, I just don't want to listen to it again, especially since the media will play right along and call it news. As for Bernie, I didn't vote for him last time, he would have to prove to me he's worth it now, I was at his rally in Seattle when the blm took it over and he just let them. I went to see him, not blm, when he let them take over his podium that's all I needed to know, he avoided confrontation with them and I see why, but I came to see him, and if he won't stand up to two women who hijacked his rally then I have zero use for him. I'm not putting down blm but it's obvious they could have asked him for some time after he was finished or agreed on another way for them to talk, they didn't, they just shoved him out of the way and took over. I went home as there was nothing there to watch. |

9. I think that is mostly true.
We should start looking at some new blood.
