Sure, he will more than likely get his ass handed to him three times by President Obama, but not going to a debate would be so stupid on his part it's unfathomable. and remember that despite everything that has been thrown at him Romney is only down 2-3 points in most polls. If he's doing that well after all of this then they will certainly not change candidates. Ford was down 30 points in 1976 and he was nominated. Carter was down 25 points in 1980 and he was nominated. Mondale was down 20 points in 1984 and he was nominated, etc.

There's no getting around it. Believe me, if it were possible to be on the ticket and get out of doing at least one debate, they woulda made that happen for Palin. She was scared witless, imagine how Team McCain felt during that event!

There will be debates. Team Mitt will push to make it all as scripted as possible. I am sure of another thing, the President will be able to make his points and nail Mitt where needed no matter what sort of rules are in place.
