(4,167 posts)I think most can infer what I meant. I went to dinner tonight with someone from Alabama and he used the same words and called his state crazy. Hell, Charles Barkley, another Alabaman, said the same thing.
Edit: I hope that they prove me wrong and Roy Moore is defeated in the GE.

(2,857 posts)I was just on a jury for this comment. I voted it does not break a rule because it is true. Ya'll don't know what it is like living here, but there are a WHOLE LOT of nuts. I am constantly having to set them straight. One thought Puerto Rico was a different country today and then still didn't get that they are American citizens. Another admitted Moore was a bad choice as was Strange, but refuses to consider voting for a dem. She also pretends to be part of a constitutional defending motorcycle group for lack of a better word. She constantly goes on about how they strictly defend the constitution and can't stand anyone is protesting the flag. I tried and tried to explain to her that to defend the constitution, you have to defend ALL of it and not just the parts you like....
So that is why I voted like that. I live here and I know. Not all, but probably 75%..

(20,782 posts)They're not all here with the rest of us. I'll assume the largest bastions of die-hard 45 support are southern. The lynchings of the 19th and 20th century were real, chronic, and allowed. Hell, they were PROUD of their lynchings.
It's not just crazy down there, it's inhuman for some.

(63,247 posts)I'll stack the pure, hate-driven racism of western PA against that of any mythical backwater southern town.
It is a mistake--and a divisive one--to imagine that "the south" is some racist monolith unto itself.

(63,247 posts)but I'm not sure that camouflaged racism is any better than explicit racism.
People of color can spot it from a mile away, so the camouflage seems exclusively intended to placate the casually sensitive white observers rather than the targets of that racism.

(100,118 posts)That's the only reason. The guy is off the wall batshit fucking insane. He has no business making or enforcing laws. The GOP is only doing this because they know he is a guy who sets us off.
