EMERGENCY: A meeting will take place at the Country Inn Suites, in Freeport, Illinois at 5:00 PM, tomorrow, Wednesday, July 18th, between employees of the Sensata Corporation, and their employers.
The topic will be the pending closure of the plant, and the training of Red Chinese replacements by Sensata's displaced workers.
Please, attend this meeting if you can, and recommend this thread even if you can't. We need to get the word out, and we don't have a lot of time. Freeporters crossed the border and helped Wisconsin in their hour of need. We need your help, now. We need everyone's help.
We're not a big town, and... well, this could very well take us off the map.
Help us?

(17,652 posts)(I removed the Rock River Times link because malwarebyts caught a bogie incoming on it just now. Bottom line, their factory, bought out by Bain Capitol, is being shut and the jobds moved to China. They want Rmoney to come to their town and stand up for them.)
Hoping for the best for you! Why can't the people hold a hostile take-over in this kind of situation?
Aloha~

(53,339 posts)But I'd suggest editing to remove 'Red' from "Red Chinese." That's a hot-button term from the Cold War, and the modifier isn't necessary.
Still, you have my K&R.

(9,385 posts)That should help some. Ed brought out that it is BAIN doing this btw. Supposedly, Mittens should still have some influence there? The mayor is asking both Obama and rMoney to come there to Freeport for a debate, to highlight the problem.
This should not be happening. It isn't the US workers' wages which is the problem... it's the money-grab by those at the top which makes the cheap Chinese labor necessary. We should simply make billionaires illegal. No individual needs to be a billionaire. It's bad public policy for several good reasons, including this one.
Edit to add: I see that Salon is now covering it too. Article in LBN...
