KISS Gets Fans to Recite Pledge of Allegiance

The can go to hell. They always sucked, and now they suck even harder.

KISS showed once again that they don't just have stars and stripes painted on their faces -- but on their hearts too.

Before their encore Saturday night (Sept. 30) at the Gretna Heritage Festival in Louisiana, the classic rock band requested the audience join them in a display of U.S. patriotism by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

"It's always cool to love your country," frontman Paul Stanley said, according to a report.

Unsurprisingly, fan response was divided. One supporter tweeted, "KISS just stopped their concert to take a moment to thank the veterans and say the pledge of allegiance. Pretty damn cool."

While another wrote, "KISS made everyone do the pledge of allegiance before they would do an encore. That was the least rock and roll thing I've ever seen."

And here's the proof!

Funny how it's come full circle. The evangelicals hated rock and called it satanic. Now the satanist rockers have turned patriotic.

I used to know a guy back in the 70s who was a roadie for Blue Oyster Cult, and he had met KISS as they were just starting out. He claimed that their music was shit because they were more interested in creating/exploiting the KISS image than they were writing/performing decent tunes. I tend to believe him, it sounds plausible to me.

the same ones who lambasted the NFL players for brining politics into 'their' football?

I'd be interested to know why they are cool with one and not the other.

It's pretty authoritarian to make someone recite the pledge at a concert for which they paid in exchange for an encore.

especially sense it was written by socialist Christian Francis Bellamy. Are the Gene Simmons and Ted Nugent's of the world aware of this fact?

I always knew that fucking one-percenter wingnut Gene "Chaim Witz" Simmons was batshit. Didn't think Paul suffered from the same disease.

I really don't see the big problem here. Those who were offended were free to offer a finger instead of a recitation and are free to dump these jerks permanently.

Proud liberal here.
