With FEMA Overwhelmed, Its Up to Nurses Left to Feed Starving Puerto Ricans

HUMACAO, Puerto Rico—Nurses came to Puerto Rico from the mainland United States to help treat the sick, but many are instead working to prevent starvation and dehydration

“I don’t know what’s taking FEMA so much time to move on from the assessment mode to intervention,” Litten said, comparing her days on the island to her chaotic day job as an emergency room nurse in California.
The nurses not only identified the areas where people lack access to clean water but also spent time going to grocery stores, shopping for necessity goods.
“Once we hit the streets we noticed lots of people were facing dehydration and starvation, so we switched gears [to provide food] since day one,” Litten said.

I did think it was because Trump's FEMA did not know what they were doing. I am beginning to think it is on purpose.

where, when he was growing up, in the 50's, Puerto Ricans were discriminated against there.
and Trump has bragged that he has not changed in any significant way from when he was in 6th grade.

remember, Trump and his dad both were sued for racial discrimination in renting all those huge apts. they built.

When Lucille Ball married Desi, there was a lot of studio fears she would lose her career, people thought he was Puerto Rican or good as being one, Cuba was not seen as any different.

I agree with you, I am seeing Disaster Capitalism going on. Puerto Rico has a huge debt. That debt was packaged and sold as bonds, just like car debt and college debt and mortgage debt are.

meaning well heeled investors can demand their bond payments, or, if they can't get them, they can do what was done in Greece, and in Spain, which is force bankruptcy and sale of resources to pay a huge debt. Perfect time to do it, citizens there are helpless and barely surviving in lots of areas.

I have been saying for several weeks now that there is a slow moving genocide happening with this administration and I am NOT kidding. Whether it is through health care, gun control, natural emergencies, etc. or other issues it is taking place and will continue.

don't really know the truth because man never shows much and we never hear the truth from anyone in government but one thing I do know is when things get back to normal they need to kick their governor's ass as far as they can
