why we should outright distrust polls, for bad and good.

Let's be honest, the media wants this to be dragged out. If they can drag it till next Summer, they will. There is also the fact that a lot of people want to hear that Mitt is not all that weak, because that will let loose the Billion dollar floodgates of ads they are depending on. They like the idea that Citizens United will force at least a Billion dollars into their pockets every 4 years.

We simply cannot trust media...however, we can do our best to remind the weak info voters we know that the media is Bullshit. if nothing else, remind them how they took the Kardashian wedding and made it a gala event.

I may just be idealistic, but I don't see that fostering an echo-chamber of delusion is helpful.

Sure, let's ignore the only source of information about an ongoing campaign.

It's much better to guess at where the national electorate is based on what I heard somebody at the grocery store say.

When political professionals stop poring over all polling for what reliable information it contains (which varies from poll to poll) then I'll accept the idea that polling contains no information for the discerning reader.

it means that you see Polls as a means of delusion rather than the cure for it. The real info is not going to be put on the television, except maybe current. It means you have to look in places like here, and sadly, sometimes even FR to see what the real story is.

Will attend my high school reunion end of September, and hope to arm myself with useful info. Tho I suspect most of my classmates try to be informed, and probably majority is Dem, don't want to miss any opportunities to inform.

or ignore or make excuses for polls that aren't as good as we hope they should be.
