Will the U.S. ever recover from Trump and GOP?

I'm sure like the rest of you, the last 9 months have left me quite anxious and sick. The more this continues, the more I lose hope the US will ever return to normal. Just today, an article citing Trump violating a Supreme Court ruling by allowing federal nominees to start working without Senate approval.

It just seems like the endless list of crimes and corruption is just going to continue, because our institutions are so damaged that they can't fix this.

When is someone going to face consequences for all of this? I really wish I could move to another country, at least to wait this out and see what America turns into. As of right now, this is really affecting my health.

There is no repairing the shattered country these asshats are leaving in their wake...the divisions of this country STILL center around racism and hopeless romanticizing of a past that never really was to begin with.

The GOP and Trumpster fire fans are all guilty of being anarchists in that respect, but their beliefs are incongruous with 21st century society in general. As they isolate the country from the rest of the world, they lay the groundwork for the coming Civil War II conflict. We will NOT go quietly into that good night, there WILL be a fight and it WILL be awful!

We chose not to prosecute those responsible and ignore those lies, the result was Trump. Good men and women will not be able to fix this (including electing Trump) until the generations responsible are long dead and rotting in the ground.

the wolves rush in and begin their depredations.

And no, we won't be fixing this. At best, future generations will be reduced to scrabbling for food. At worst, we'll be extinct.

I think he will win re-election in 2020 thanks to voter suppression & voting machines. The dems didn't just drop the ball - they lost the game.

The damage the GOP has wrought since 1980 has eroded most of the American Experiment. Big money and oligarchs control our politicians and they favor all of the destructive policies the Republicans have been relentlessly pushing in our country.

With Trump's complete disdain for the Constitutional system, the checks and balances that were carefully constructed by the Founding Fathers have been all but ignored and discarded.

We are living through the dismantling of our nation by nefarious and dangerous forces led by an idiot.

Maybe the next president will have to run on a platform saying he or she will actually follow the law and ethics of the office.

The GOP was always good at stealing elections, but the Russians kicked it up quite a few notches. Nothing has been done to secure our voting system. So all the GOP has to do is go through the motions of elections and continue to rig the system.

Trump is Reagan and the GOP on steroids. The US can recover, just like it recovered from the Great Depression. We have some different problems and different times, but remember that during the Great Depression, people were dying of starvation, the elderly and the sick were at the mercy of charity. It took work and pain, but a whole infrastructure was built to help people.

The institutions are damaged but they exist and we know that they have worked in the past. The people just need to learn that it is the GOP in service of the wealthiest people, who are damaging the institutions. That is the difficulty, getting past the right wing propaganda that has put half the population into a bubble of ignorance and a commercial media that tries to put everyone into a stupor.

They got SCOTUS. And now they're coming for the judicial circuit and the Johnson Amendment. This is fucking scary. If they get their hands on the Johnson Amendment, America as we know it is finished.
