A new cover from The New Yorker is causing some strife on conservative social media sites with its cartoonish depiction of President Donald Trump. October Surprise, by Carter Goodrich depicts President Donald Trump in a fat, clown suit and makeup.
The clown version of President Trump peers out from within a forest, with an evil smile wrapped around his face. The cartoon, clown Trump is more akin to something out of a Steven King horror novel, than anything pleasant.
When the cover was released, conservative social media went into a frenzy, including one of Trumps biggest supporters.

Carter Goodrichs October Surprise
My whole life has been disrupted. Its a national nightmare, the artist Carter Goodrich says, about his cover for this weeks issue: a painting of the President whom he calls a dangerous clown. Im still just as stunned now as I was a year ago, on Election Night. I have been asked to work on movies about him. I cant do it; most satire seems to lighten what feels to me like a dire situation. Hes already a cartoon villain, infantile and strange.

(11,330 posts)True root of all animus towards @realDonaldTrump (including #NFL fiasco) is the current ethos that hates strong/hetero/Christian/white men, one user added.
The animus against Trump is that he is an unAmerican Putin wannabe. He does not exhibit strength or Christian characteristics.
He is mentally, physically, morally, emotionally and intellectually a weakling.
Its an insult to Christ to claim that Trump in any way follows or embodies Christ-like actions or beliefs.

(45,438 posts)they have pundits constantly talking about how the left is taking away their freedoms and fundamentally altering the very nature of America.
Weakness lies in diversity/inclusion and feminism and LGBTs apparently.
Still the greatest argument I've seen for banning transgender soldiers is that the enemy has trained dogs to sniff out menstrual blood which puts all our soldiers at risk. Transwomen don't have periods and never will. Most transmen stop having periods because of the testosterone.
Has no one told Trump and his supporters that obesity lowers testosterone?

(20,219 posts)That's not typical vocabulary for the reality-challenged.
The huge broadbrush devaluation of everyone who doesn't agree with him, though, is perfectly typical.

Not all would mourn what we are in danger of losing if they did, either. Government of, by and for the people is a responsibility many are anxious to turn over to a leader.

(5,810 posts)depictions of our former President Obama. Many were racist, insulting and went way too far. Where were they when he was regularly sketched, painted and photoshopped in the most disrespectful way? This cartoon of tRump is certainly no worse and in MANY respects is spot on. He is our worst nightmare come to life.

(16,950 posts)I will have to develop personal elitism, stop smiling at every person I meet, get a gun, go to a shooting range with my grandkids, learn how to hate gays, other women, all minorities, totally change my view of Christianity into some kind of narrow range of love for white men only, stop giving to charities, be prepared to shoot all minorities on sight for no reason, except they are different or other, embrace the rape culture and love corporations, the dirtier the better, banks, too. Of course, I will have to love all things putin, sit on the flag and use the U.S. Constitution, except the 2nd Amendment, to wipe off my shoes, all the while condemning sports figures who protest getting shot on sight by quasi-military local police, discontinue my healthcare, cancel my Social Security and Medicare, pay higher and higher premiums on my other kinds of insurance. Plus, I must not only condemn public education, but also set aside my own top-notch edukation, and stop all that book larnin. There is so much more, but the going down hill takes less time and energy than finding and taking the high road.
I am being sarcastic, because I'd rather be dead than red (state)
