Reports of the Democratic Party's death are highly exaggerated.

I can honestly report that Democratic politics at the local level in my precinct are healthier than they ever have been. Last week Democrats from 5 Rural Iowa counties held a joint forum to introduce Primary candidates running for Governor and the 3rd District in Congress here in the heart of Redneck Iowa. Turnout was great and enthusiasm was high. IMHO, Donna Brazile's comments sound nutty at worst and self-serving at best. Carry on and Get Out and VOTE!

1. Intense media hits on the party, describing us in disarray,

etcetera, suggest the influence of deep-seated corruption every bit as much such specifics as the NYT and AP's two-year campaigns to defeat our presidential candidate and keep us from gaining majorities in congress.

The Republican Party has been taken over by right-wing extremist billionaires and is completely broken from the effects of enormous corruption and betrayal of its electorate, and the nation. It only holds that electorate by turning them to fight us.

And obligingly deceive and deflect the media do, enormously, to the point that even most members of DU have no idea just how amazingly functional, united and committed to our basic priniciples Democrats are in this era of intense corruption.

They have to pretend there is still a horserace to report on, even if one of the parties is trying to drag democracy down in a death spiral, while the other tries to defeat the existential threats to our democracy, and even to still advance our wellbeing under these conditions.
