question here

Can States offer tax credits for voting during election years? (i know Repubs would be against it) but it would be interesting in states we have control then could gradually expand to other states? i'm thinking $100 tax credit? how about it?

People that pay little or no tax would not benefit, and we need voters of all income levels out to vote.

Instead, why not just give each voter a crisp $20 or $100 bill to help with expenses (gas, bus fare, etc.)? That would also help anyone that actually lost income because they took time to vote.

However, you can bet that Repugs would be against it because it would cost them net votes.

doing something is GREAT STARTING point and if we control then the hell with THEM ASSHOLES! Just figure out a fair way of getting all people to vote is the GOAL

Republicans have given much effort and legislation to disenfranchise poor and otherwise disadvantaged voters all across the country, mainly because most of those folks vote Democratic. That practice is unfair, bigoted, and probably unconstitutional.

Many people in poor areas cannot afford the cost of getting ID cards, much less get transportation to go vote. In many areas, they have closed voting locations clearly with the intent of reducing the low-income vote.

So, the most fair thing would be to do a little something to help those disenfranchised folks, even if it's only $20 to pay bus fare. Either cash or a money order would do OK.

I think we all agree that anything we can do to help turnout is good. It's also important that we let the Republicans know that we object to what many of them are doing to weaken our election turnout.

Keep up the good work!

ids and can get to polling places. Anyone who wants or needs a ride can easily get one. In past elections, my wife and I spent the day driving people to the polls.

Check with your local party in your state. I'm sure they do the same thing and could use your help.
