Two more women describe unwanted overtures by Roy Moore at Alabama mall

Kayla McLaughlin, left, and Gena Richardson worked together at Sears in the late 1970s. The pair is seen in this image from 1977. Richardson says Roy Moore, then in his 30s, visited her at Sears and that Moore later called her school to ask her out. (Provided by Kayla McLaughlin )

Gena Richardson says she was a high school senior working in the men’s department of Sears at the Gadsden Mall when a man approached her and introduced himself as Roy Moore. “He said, ‘You can just call me Roy,’ ” says Richardson, who says this first encounter happened in the fall of 1977, just before or after her 18th birthday, as Moore, then a 30-year-old local attorney, was gaining a reputation for pursuing young women at the mall in Gadsden, Ala. His overtures caused one store manager to tell new hires to “watch out for this guy,” another young woman to complain to her supervisor and Richardson to eventually hide from him when he came in Sears, the women say.

Richardson says Moore — now a candidate for U.S. Senate — asked her where she went to school, and then for her phone number, which she says she declined to give, telling him that her father, a Southern Baptist preacher, would never approve.

A few days later, she says, she was in trigonometry class at Gadsden High when she was summoned to the principal’s office over the intercom in her classroom. She had a phone call. “I said ‘Hello?’” Richardson recalls. “And the male on the other line said, ‘Gena, this is Roy Moore.’ I was like, ‘What?!’ He said, ‘What are you doing?’ I said, ‘I’m in trig class.’ ”

Richardson says Moore asked her out again on the call. A few days later, after he asked her out at Sears, she relented and agreed, feeling both nervous and flattered. They met that night at a movie theater in the mall after she got off work, a date that ended with Moore driving her to her car in a dark parking lot behind Sears and giving her what she called an unwanted, “forceful” kiss that left her scared.

They are trying to force him out.

I think that when push comes to shove Moore will win. "Values voters" don't want to admit that they will support a predator.

No matter how shocking or egregious the Republican candidate's wrongdoing, the Republican voters so often seem to find a way to vote for them anyway.

I will believe that Moore is toast when he gives his concession speech and he abandons his bullshit quest to sue the media for finally reporting on his vile, predatory nature.

Until that day, it is entirely reasonable to discuss Moore's efforts to remain relevant.

2. If you have to call a girl out of her Trig class,

then she's too young.

If you have to ask her mom or dad, she's too young.

If she's too young to have a drivers license, she's too young.

If she's avoiding you by hiding in Sears, then she's not interested.

If everyone knows you troll for teenage girls in malls, then you need to see a psychiatrist.

He may have pretended to be her dad or the office worker assumed the only grown man that would call her at school would be her dad

Republicans can never, NEVER, EVER play the "morality" card again. They've lost their mock-outrage privileges.

They're still convincing themselves all these women are lying. The yearbook inscription is a forgery. It's a huge conspiracy to take down this wonderful man of God. The Devil along with the Democrats, the media, and even the Republican Party leadership are all in it together, enticing the women to lie, persecuting Moore because he's such a strong Christian and a champion of the faith. But, the Lord and Roy Moore will prevail against the forces of evil and secularism, just wait and see, and then the USA will be blessed like never before.

Right-wing media and web-based agitprop have filtered and distorted what should be a genuinely observable and measurable reality for so long, they’ve finally conjured up an entirely different reality. And, of course, it’s not pretty.

I just read today in the New York Times where the Kochs are softening their initial objections to a Trump presidency. The Mercers have given millions to Breitbart and Steve Bannon.

Hard not to get down when you know that most of the big money out there is held by Republicans. And apparently they’re okay with with having Roy Moore hang in.

No more morality lectures from the right. Ever!

At this point they should be looking at cold-cases of missing teens. Clearly this guy had a problem. His urges were so strong he called the school.
