If you are 65+, you should ALREADY have called your House rep

The House tax proposal (at last word) eliminates the aged/blind additional exemptions. And starts the marginal rate at 12%.

For single senior non-itemizers, that means taxes rise on taxable income of roughly $14000-$24000.
For a senior non-itemizing couple, those with taxable income of $30000-$45000 would pay more tax.

The House is scheduled to vote today on this.

I think a lightbulb went on for the Senate staff, for their proposal retained the aged/blind additional exemption.

But there is much to hate in both proposals.

..state reps. I use it daily....even just to send a thank you fax for a good vote. Its free but try to donate if you can.
