I've never understood why the DNC Does not portray us as the party of morality. Our views are far more compatible with the teaching of Jesus than the right. We should be pointing that out and using it to our advantage.

I grew up in a very religious home and my parents conducted themselves as a Christian should. I no longer attend because it is to the point of the sign out front should read "Church of Our Lord and Savior Bill O'Reilly".

has it's roots in racism. The religious right didn't start in the 80's with the abortion issue instead it started in the early 70s with Bob Jones university losing it's tax exempt status for it's segregationist policies. That was the original reason white evangelicals got active in politics. Should be noted Roe Vs Wade also happened in the early 70's too with a republican President. Yet White evangelicals did not make that an issue until 7 years later when a Democrat was President and they voted for the guy who legalized abortion when he was governor of California, but also opposed the civil rights act of 1964 go figure.

I don't refer to the religious right as Christians. I call them Bibleists. There is nothing Christian about them.

Falwell proclaimed: “During the 1980s, preachers, we have a threefold primary responsibility. No. 1: Get people saved. No. 2: Get them baptized. No. 3: Get them registered to vote.”

Then, by damn, they should lose tax exempt status!
