HELLO AMERICA. The GOP is about to f*ck you up the a$$ with a huge billionaire financial CACTUS - backwards. WILL YOU CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES -T O D A Y- and DEMAND they OPPOSE this? Or, just TAKE it? Really America? REALLY? 202-224-3121http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/politics/2017/11/democrats_sound_the_alarm_on_the_tax_bill.html
What did suburbia ever do to the Republicans that they now have to make an assault on them? Pelosi said Monday, speaking in front of signs that read No middle class tax hike! and Dont tax the suburbs! Schumer similarly emphasized that Republican members from the middle-class swing suburbs were slapping around their voters, and they think they can get away with it. But they cant.
Can they, though?
If Republican members in swing suburbs were truly feeling the heat over changes to the state and local tax deduction, say, or the mortgage interest deduction, or other tax breaks the GOPs plans curtail, the House bill might actually be in peril. Instead, its heading toward a vote on Thursday that few seem to think is in doubt. At the same time, the Senate proposal is proceeding through committee markup this week with relatively little attention. Though some senators are working to eliminate the individual mandate as part of the bill, it has yet to amass any hard no votes in a conference teeming with contrasting sensitivities.
Democrats and aligned grass-roots groups are trying everything to mobilize the same kind of opposition that repeatedly blocked Obamacare repeal earlier this year. But theyre not having much luck.
AMERICA! WAKE. THE. FUCK. UP. You have FIVE MINUTES to get ON. THE. PHONE. to your reps.

(16,887 posts)This will destroy middle class families and especially hit women the hardest since it usually is men paying spousal support to the wife . Men will as a result be paying less alimony since they can't deduct it. And while the GOP will argue that "its tax free income" to the woman, its no conciliation. The impact is still less at the end of the day.
Family lawyers and mediators have a rush right now to get any divorces not entered and filed, in before Dec. 31st, 2017...
Crazy....Wealthy people with lots of assets to divide don't care - but the majority of the population will be crushed by this.

(31,828 posts)It's in the hands of citizens in Red States that voted for their Red Senators and Red 45/140.
My R member of the house is a no - and Booker and Menendez are a no.
I can't do anything more than that.

(31,828 posts)I though after health care - Freilinghuysen and he would flip on this one - so that each could take a hit on big legislation. Hunterdon County - can't afford this tax bill AND keep a roof over it's head. It's simply not possible. For every family like mine- there are 9 in the 60 to 100 K tax bracket. A family of four can't afford it.
I feel like if it does happen - Murphy will tax me at a rate that our middle class, working class, and poor families get some 'relief' from Trump and the Republicans. Helping my neighbors? No problem with that!

(2,848 posts)I'd pay less in taxes under either bill. I'm not exactly opposed to some tax relief - we are getting hammered out here by taxes.
CousinIT

(36,307 posts)This bill has no effect on me and I can't bring myself to feel sorry for those who bring home much more then I do and fight for them to keep more of their 50k to 75k annual income.
CousinIT
(9,245 posts)..I fight for those who make less than me - so they DO NOT have to pay more taxes. Even when it didn't affect me personally, I did so.
Draw any conclusion you wish.
Kaleva
(36,307 posts)So they do not have to pay more in taxes?
Edit that's what you are asking me to do.

(4,377 posts)These are bills that hand huge tax breaks to insanely rich people, by taxing working class and middle class people more. It sucks that you're stuck below the income ranges affected, but these are normal families who will be hurt and hurt badly, not rich people who can just not buy another horse or yacht.
So yes, please fight for them.
8.8 million households claimed medical deductions in 2015. Eliminating deduction vital to people w high medical costs is a #TaxOnDisability

(2,848 posts)I make less than 75k and maybe I'm missing something but it seems like I'd pay a couple thousand less in taxes than I do now. Its not easy to run exact numbers because I don't know every detail yet.

(34,074 posts)It literally raises my blood pressure - and it does absolutely no good, either to the way he will vote (or to the overall vote in the house).
I'll put up with the impact on my health to speak with my Senator's office. It still hasn't made a difference, but there is at least a snowball's chance in hell that it will - and becuase the senate's vote is much closer that the house - I'll put my limited energy/willingness to risk my health where it will do the most good.
